Code of Conduct

The Loss Adjusters Association of Singapore (LAAS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, ethical conduct and reputation of the profession among its members.

This Code of Conduct outlines the principles and guidelines that all members of the LAAS are expected to be aware of and to ensure their conduct is compliant with.

Professionalism and Integrity

Members shall uphold the highest level of professionalism and integrity in all their interactions with clients, colleagues, and other parties. Members should be mindful that they are engaged to act for clients and they shall act honestly, fairly, and with diligence, ensuring the best interests of the clients are always prioritized.

Members should not engage in bribery, kickbacks or other questionable inducements in any form.

Confidentiality

Members shall maintain the confidentiality of all client information and shall not disclose any confidential information without the explicit consent of the client, except where required by law or professional standards.

Notably, members should be aware of the provisions of the PDPA (Personal Data Protection Act) and keep abreast of updates in data protection legislation.

Competence

Members should only accept or perform work which they have the requisite skill and capability to handle.

Members shall continuously strive to enhance their professional knowledge and skills, keeping up-to-date with industry developments, regulations, and best practices. They shall provide services competently and diligently, meeting the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Conflict of Interest

Members should only accept or perform work which they have the requisite skill and capability to handle.

Members shall continuously strive to enhance their professional knowledge and skills, keeping up-to-date with industry developments, regulations, and best practices. They shall provide services competently and diligently, meeting the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Respect and Fair Treatment

Members shall treat all individuals with respect and fairness, regardless of their background, race, language, religion, gender or any other distinguishing characteristic. They shall refrain from discriminatory or harassing behaviour in all professional interactions.

Compliance with Laws & Regulations

Members must be aware of and shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the countries and jurisdictions they operate in.

Members who are part of other professional bodies should maintain and uphold the professional standards of the loss adjusting profession in interactions in their various capacities.

Responsibility to the Profession

Members shall contribute to the advancement of the loss adjusting profession by sharing knowledge, mentoring aspiring professionals, and promoting ethical standards. They shall actively participate in relevant professional development activities and support the goals of the LAAS.

Members shall ensure that their behaviour does not bring the reputation of the profession into disrepute.

Code of conduct

Enforcement

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action by the LAAS, which may include suspension or termination of membership, depending on the severity of the violation. The LAAS reserves the right to investigate any alleged violations and take appropriate action.
