International Loss Adjusting began in Asia in 1967 when the well-established UK- based Loss Adjusting firm, Graham Miller set up its first overseas office in Hong
Kong.
Several international loss adjusting firms including Toplis & Harding, Thomas Howell and Richard Hogg set up offices in Singapore in the 1970s.
Graham Miller set up its second Asian office in 1972 in Singapore helmed by Mr
George Scott. Mr Chan Hwee Seng, the first Singaporean loss adjuster, joined
Graham Miller the same year.
The Loss Adjusters Association of Singapore was registered under the Societies Act
the same year has remains at the forefront of advancing the profession of loss
adjusting in Singapore and beyond.
The Loss Adjusters Association of Singapore was formally established in 1993 by the
triumvirate of Mr Chan Hwee Seng, Mr Richard Desker and Mr Neo Lian Sun, the
managing directors of their respective loss adjusting firms who were of common
mind to self-regulate the loss adjusting industry in Singapore.
Today, the LAAS plays a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of loss adjusting in
Singapore through continuous education, training programs to empowered loss
